Covid cases in the holiday.

17th December 2020

We have been asked to inform all parents that if your child develops symptoms of Covid-19 after we have finished for the Christmas holidays and you take your child for a test then we need to be informed of this. We only need to be informed up until Sunday 20th December at 2:30pm as this is 48 hours since your child will have been in school and had contact with other children and staff in school. Parents can inform school via emailing the school office email account and I will be checking this over the weekend:- schooloffice@gayton.wirral.sch.uk.

If we do have parents informing us of any cases, I will continue to monitor this email account until the test results are received. Public Health have said that test results may not be received until 24th December 2020 and therefore the email account will be monitored up until this point.

If your child develops symptoms later on the Sunday, or at any other point during the holiday, we do not need to be informed.

If a child develops symptoms (within 48 hours of attending school) and then goes on to test positive, this will mean that school will need to contact families in order to inform them and ask you to isolate your child for 10 days. Obviously, no one wants to receive this message before Christmas, but we have to follow the guidelines and would need to do this if a case is confirmed of either a member of staff or a pupil.

We return to school on Tuesday 5th January 2021 and normal reporting procedures can be followed at this point. Please do not send your child back to school on the 5th of January if they or anyone else in the household is displaying symptoms of covid-19. If this is the case, please contact school on the morning of Tuesday 5th January 2021 in order to inform us that your child is isolating.

Thank you for your support and understanding with this.

Kind regards,

Mrs McAleny
