World Book Day

26th February 2021
World Book Day 2021

Good afternoon,
Next Thursday (4th March 2021) is World Book day. The children will not be dressing up in costumes this year, but staff have planned some lovely activities for this day. These are outlined below:

*We are going to be having a whole school focus on the book 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' by Sarah Roberts. This is a wonderful book with an environmental theme. Staff will be sharing this book with the children on Thursday and then the children will have activities to complete based around this book.

*We are going to be taking part in a mystery reader event on Thursday 4th March 2021 at 2:30pm. This will involve the children in school and the children at home. Further information will be sent to all parents about this next week.

*We have again linked with Usborne books in order to run a sponsored reading event and a virtual book fair.

The Sponsored Book Bingo event will run from Monday 1st and Sunday 7th March 2021 and all the money raised wil go towards brand new books for school. There is a letter attached explaining this in greater detail and the sponsored book bingo card is also attached to this email.

The Virtual Book Fair will take place from between Monday 8th and Friday 12th March 2021 and will be hosted via a Facebook group run by Liz Neale (Independent Usborne Organiser). Further details regarding this are available on the attached letter. £1.00 World Book day vouchers will be sent home electronically this year on World Book Day. This can be redeemed against a book costing £2.99 or more from the virtual book fair as well or alternatively can be printed and used in other book shops.

These two events will help to raise money for school to go towards brand new books for individual classes and the main library. There is no pressure for families to take part in the events, but it is a wonderful way for school to enhance our reading resources for our children.

We hope that your child/ren will enjoy taking part in some of these events next week for World Book Day.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs McAleny
