Welcome back to school

Dear Parents/Carers,
It was lovely to welcome all our children back to school today following the half term break.
Please can I remind all parents that it is important that all parents continue to wear face masks when collecting and dropping off your child. Our school community have been excellent at following this guidance so thank you for your continued support with this.
Just a reminder that from Thursday 5th November, we are entering a lockdown period with schools thankfully remaining open. Many of our health and safety measures are now well established, and as we move into the next lockdown, we will continue to take advice from our Health and Safety team, the DFE and the local authority. Any changes that are required will be shared with parents.
I would, yet again, urge all parents to ensure that they do not send their child to school if they are displaying any of the symptoms of covid. If we are concerned about a child, as they are displaying symptoms, we will send them home and ask you to get your child tested before they can return to school.
We will do our very best to keep all our children in school. However, if we do have confirmed cases of coronavirus then it may be necessary for us to isolate a class or bubble of children. Advice is always sought from the Local authority or Public Health in these circumstances. If this occurs, arrangements for remote education will be shared with you but Google Classroom will be the platform that we will use to ensure access to education continues.
Isolating children:
If your child is isolating at home awaiting test results etc, we will be providing work for your child via Google Classroom. Staff are working exceptionally hard to ensure that the work set mirrors, as closely as possible, what the children are covering in school.
If your child is isolating at home, we will send them the link for them to join the celebration assembly on Friday as well.
Cold Weather:
Please ensure that your child has a coat in school every day. In accordance with our Covid-19 risk assessment, we will continue to keep all our classrooms well ventilated by keeping windows and doors open. Understandably as we enter the winter period, this will make the classroom environment colder for the children and staff. Therefore, you may wish to ensure that your child wears another layer under their school uniform in order to keep them warmer. The heating is on in school but the school environment will naturally feel colder at the moment; due to the need for us to ensure there is adequate ventilation in all classrooms.
Poppy appeal:
This year we are again supporting the Poppy Appeal. We have a range of poppy merchandise ranging from 50p to £1.50 including snap bracelets, reflectors, zip pulls and wristbands as well as the traditional poppies. If you would like to support this, please send any donations into school with your child. We will have a limited supply available in each bubble to be purchased. Donations can be sent into school from tomorrow (Wednesday 4th November 2020).
Children in Need:
On Friday 13th November, we will be supporting Children in Need. We would like your child to come into school wearing bright clothing, spots, stripes or anything Pudsey related. We would like parents to make a minimum donation of £1.00 per child via Parent Pay. This money will then be distributed to Children in Need.
